Cellist Alexis Lee Appointed to Georgia State University Faculty

Alongside her teaching, Lee will continue to appear with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra and the Atlanta Opera Orchestra

 

Korean-American cellist Alexis Lee has been appointed to a faculty position in the School of Music at Georgia State University. Alongside her teaching role, Lee will continue to appear as a member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra as well as collaborating with the Atlanta Opera Orchestra.

Lee studied at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, before receiving her Doctor of Musical Arts in performance from Boston University, where she studied with Rhonda Rider.

As a chamber musician and orchestral performer, Lee has appeared at venues including Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, and Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. Her extensive chamber music experience includes an invitation from the Beethoven Research Center to study and perform Beethoven’s Op.132 with violinist Peter Zazofsky and Beethoven scholar Lewis Lockwood.

She has previously played in the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra and the York Symphony Orchestra, plus appeared as a soloist with the latter on two separate occasions.
